Farm Fresh To You Review

What’s Farm Fresh To You?

Farm Fresh To You is a family-run business supporting the principals of Community-supported agriculture. Starting in the 1970s, the family acquired the first 20 acres of their farm – Capay Organic and joined forces with other local farms to promote good farming practices that don’t harm the environment.

Currently, this second-generation farm offers more than 60 varieties of fruits and vegetables. What’s more, it’s 100% organic products as certified by CCOF.

All their produce is GMO-free, and they use organic fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, and pesticides. So, you don’t have to worry that your food has been sprayed with dangerous substances.

In addition to this, they work closely with neighboring farms so that you have more than 150 specialty farm products and hand-crafted farm products at your disposal.

How does Farm Fresh To You work?

At first glance, the Farm Fresh To You website is easy to navigate. However, when I clicked on “Sign up” I was taken to the “select a box” page, and I was a little confused for a while.

It turns out that you have to enter your zip code and if Farm Fresh To You deliver to your area, you can choose your box, its size, and delivery day. Then you can sign up for the service, which follows the usual registration steps.

What’s convenient is that you can pick the box to be delivered to your doorstep or your office. Then you sit back and wait for your order to arrive.

From “Manage Service” you can change the delivery schedules, your box size, or box type. What’s more, you can suspend your subscription for up to three consecutive months if you’re going on a long vacation or just skip a month.

You can also terminate your subscription by contacting Farm Fresh To You by sending an email from here.

However, you can make changes and cancel services as long as it’s two days before your next scheduled delivery. For example, if you expect a delivery on Monday, the last day to make changes would be Saturday by 6 p.m.

What’s in the Box?

Each box contains carefully selected fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables. You have six options available:

For example, if you choose veggie only, you might get spring onions, avocado, mushrooms, artichoke, lettuce, and broccoli. In the No Cooking box, you might expect apples, oranges, radishes, grapefruits, sweet peas, and so on.

As far as I can see, they have a nice variety of fruits and vegetables and depending on the size of the box you get between 8-18 products. Other Farm Fresh reviewers also agree.

In addition to this, boxes are available in different sizes. They have small boxes that are perfect for a single household and large ones that are excellent for big families. What’s more, every box comes with recipes, tips, upcoming events, and news from your farmer.

I like that personal touch because it’s good to know more about the people growing your food and it’s always exciting to try a new recipe.

Payment and Pricing

In regards to prices, Farm Fresh To You is not as expensive as you might expect when it comes to organic produce. It has boxes to suit every budget and taste. But let’s see in details:

  • Fruits only – $26,00 (small), $33,00 (regular), and $46,00 (more)
  • Veggie only - $33,00 (regular) and $46,00 (more)

So, it’s up to you to discover which one works best for you. But you subscribe, in addition to your subscription fee, you can buy certain farm products in bulk at lower prices.

As for payment, Farm Fresh To You accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and electronic eCheck/ACH. They don’t accept PayPal. Your card will be billed the Sunday after the box has been delivered.

Delivery

Unfortunately, Farm Fresh To You delivers only in northern and southern California. Click here to enter your zip code and check if they deliver to your area.

The good thing is that the shipping cost is included in the subscription price, so you won’t have to pay extra. What’s more, you can choose how often you want the boxes delivered. Depending on your location, you can choose from:

  • Weekly
  • Every other week
  • Every three weeks
  • Monthly

Home deliveries are made from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. and might be made in the middle of the night in which case the box will be left on your doorstep.

That has its pros and cons. For once, the fruits and vegetables won’t go bad until you have the chance to pick them up. For another, someone might steal your box, or it might get damaged during the night.

If you live in an apartment or building which requires keys or verification, you have to contact Farm Fresh To You for additional information.

Farm Fresh To You also delivers in office from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., which I think is a great idea for business owners.

What are the Pros and Cons of

Farm Fresh to You?

One of the biggest pros of this service is that you have the option to customize your box. A week before your delivery day, you have the chance to look at what you’ll receive and add/remove products. You’ll get an email with a link, or you can do it by going to your Farm Fresh Account.

In addition to this, you can add items to a Never Send List so that certain products you’re allergic to or hate won’t ever be part of your box.

Moreover, besides fruits/vegetables, you have the option to add other farm products like pasture-raised eggs, organic milk, honey, hand-crafted jam, coffee, flowers, and so on. Farm Fresh really has a nice selection of artisan products, and you’re bound to like something.

What I consider a big advantage is that you can have Recurring-Add-On Items, which get added to your box automatically every month without you having to do a thing.

In addition to this, the products arrive in sturdy, well-packed boxes, which can reuse. If you don’t plan on using these boxes, you can leave them on your doorsteps so that the Farm Fresh delivery driver can pick them up and recycle them. The same goes for your milk bottles.

One more advantage is the flexible subscription. I like that I don’t have to be stick with the same box every month and that I can change it easily to suit whatever dish I’m in the mood for.

In case there is something wrong with your delivery, you can contact Farm Fresh immediately, and they will try to sort it out. What’s more, you can always contact them during business hours on the phone or write them an email if you have questions.

The biggest disadvantage of Farm Fresh To You that I can think of is that they don’t deliver outside California. So, not everybody can get to taste their amazing products.

In addition to this, I would have liked it more if there was a way to cancel your subscription directly from your profile. A lot of subscription boxes that I receive have such an option, which gives me peace of mind that I can cancel my subscriptions with one click if I’m not satisfied.

I also would have preferred if PayPal was an accepted payment method. I like PayPal because you can dispute purchases far easier than when using credit cards. So, if something goes wrong, you can act quickly.

Also, sometimes the fruits/vegetables you receive might be dirty or covered in soil, which is not a bad thing but can be messy.

In conclusion, Farm Fresh To You is an excellent choice if you love organic fruits and vegetables and want to enjoy them on a regular basis. They offer a good variety of products at reasonable subscription prices.
