One day you look in the mirror, and you see the inevitable. Wrinkles. You might have thought that they will never happen to you, but there they are. So, what are you going to do?

Although wrinkles are a normal phase of aging, no one wants to look like the old hag from a children’s book.

Fortunately, you don’t have to get used to having wrinkles. After all, we live in an era when almost everything is possible. What’s more, some natural ways that can help you deal with this annoying problem.

Today we’re going to talk about seven home remedies for wrinkles that will restore the natural beauty of your skin.

What Causes Wrinkles?

Do you know why we get wrinkles?

When we age, our skin loses moisture, elasticity, and thickness. As a result, the skin doesn’t heal as well as before and can’t protect itself from damage. In addition to this, the skin gets loose and saggy due to the lack of fat in the deeper layers of the skin.

While all this might sound scary, it’s what happens typically when a person ages.

However, some people are more likely to develop wrinkles than other people. Why? Because of their genes. Genetics plays an essential role in the formation of the skin’s structure and its ability to produce collagen and elastin.

Scientists say that genes MMP1 and STXBP5L and their genetic variants increase a person’s risk of getting wrinkles.

While it’s not possible to influence genes, other factors that also contribute to the appearance of wrinkles, such as:

  • Exposure to UV rays. It’s one of the most common causes of premature wrinkles. As it turns out, UV rays can break down collagen and elastin. These are your skin’s connective tissues, and without them, the skin starts to sag and wrinkle because it loses elasticity and strength.
  • Smoking. While you might enjoy the occasional cigarette, you should keep in mind that smoking accelerates the aging of your skin. That’s because smoking disturbs the blood supply to the skin.
  • Making repeated facial expressions. When you smile or frown, grooves form beneath the skin. While you’re young, the skin is able to recover and spring back in place. However, when the skin loses its elasticity and flexibility, it can’t do that anymore, and these groves remain on your face.

Signs and Symptoms of Wrinkles

As I already pointed out, wrinkles are normal, and they don’t pose a risk for your health. Usually, experts describe wrinkles as fine lines or creases. However, wrinkles can become deep furrows, which will be more noticeable than the rest.

The most common signs that accompany wrinkles are:

  • Loose or sagging skin
  • Dry or brittle skin
  • Age spots

You’re most likely to discover wrinkles where sun the skin is most exposed to the sun, for example:

  • Around the eye, also called crow’s feet
  • Forehead
  • Around the nose
  • Near the mouth
  • Neck
  • Cheeks
  • Upper lip
  • Between the eyes (the so-called frown lines)
  • Forearms and back of the hand

If you’re worried about wrinkles or you think you might be dealing with something else, you should speak with your doctor as soon as possible.

Home Treatments for Wrinkles

7 Unbelievable Home Remedies for Wrinkles That Work

The usual treatment for wrinkles involves retinoids (they reduce skin roughness) and anti-wrinkle creams.

While retinoids are effective, they can cause your skin to burn easily when exposed to the sun. Anti-wrinkle creams, on the other hand, have a moderate effect depending on the active ingredients.

More aggressive treatments include:

  • Ablative laser resurfacing
  • Chemical peels
  • Dermabrasion and microdermabrasion
  • Botox
  • Skin tightening
  • Face-lift

These procedures usually do not yield long-term effects because nothing can spot the aging process. Not to mention that some of them are expensive and painful. That’s why I’m going to offer you amazing home remedies for wrinkles that will help you keep your skin young and smooth.

1. Egg White for Tightened Pores

Egg Yolk Home Remedies

Eggs are not only delicious but also beneficial for the body because they are full of nutrients and vitamins.

But did you know that eggs can be used to get rid of wrinkles? Let me explain.

Egg whites are packed with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory components. Thanks to them, egg whites can destroy those free radicals that damage cells and reduce oxidative stress.

In addition to this, egg whites contain proteins, which can help with the regeneration of new skin cells.

If you don’t know it, protein is an essential building block not only for bones and hair but also for the skin. Without enough protein in your diet, your skin will soon lose its collagen and start to sag.

Not to mention that egg whites have astringent properties – they shrink pores and make the skin look tighter.

Necessary ingredients:

  1. An egg
  2. A bowl
  3. Water
  4. A whisk

Process:

  1. Get the egg and break it gently.
  2. Separate the egg white and the yolk.
  3. Whisk the egg white.
  4. Apply it to generously on your face or neck.
  5. Wait for the mask to dry completely.
  6. Rinse with water.
  7. Repeat daily.

For optimum results, you might combine egg white with other ingredients that have astringent properties. For example, yogurt.

Necessary ingredients:

  1. Eggs
  2. Yogurt
  3. A bowl
  4. Water

Process:

  1. Get two eggs and break them gently.
  2. Separate the egg white in the bowl.
  3. Add two tablespoons of yogurt.
  4. Apply to the wrinkled area.
  5. Wait 20 minutes or until the mask dries off.
  6. Rinse with water.
  7. Repeat daily.

Notes: If you want good results, you’ll have to apply the mask every day. Otherwise, your wrinkles will begin to reappear after a day or two. In case you’re allergic to eggs, do not use this remedy unless you consult your physician.

2. Grape Seed Oil for Glowing Skin

Just like eggs, grape seed oil contains antioxidants and anti-inflammatory agents that work to prevent and revert oxidative stress. More importantly, some studies suggest that grape seed extract has a potent free-radical effect and can protect the skin from oxidation.

In addition to this, the grapeseed oil is a great source of polyphenols. Polyphenols are chemicals naturally found in plants. Don’t let the word “chemical” scare you off. Polyphenols have numerous benefits, one of which is that they prevent/delay the appearance of wrinkles.

Necessary ingredients:

  2. Water

Process:

  1. Pour a few drops of grape seed oil on your hand.

Notes: You can add a few drops of grapeseed oil into your moisturizer cream. It will help to lock the moisture into the skin and hydrate it better.

3. Vitamin E for Nourishing the Skin

Vitamin E is one of those vitamins that we get exclusively from the food we consume. It’s a potent anti-oxidant with proven positive effects on the human body. Along with Vitamin C, vitamin E is one of the major anti-oxidants that reduce oxidative stress and repair cells damaged by free radicals.

As such, it’s no surprise that vitamin E can be an effective remedy for wrinkles. It can also restore your skin’s vigor by keeping it well-hydrated. And some studies suggest that vitamin E might stop the production of cancer cells.
